OHS Christmas Party

The Old Boys this year dispensed with tradition and opted for a Christmas Party at Shepperton Cricket Club. Instead of the usual Winter Ball in Richmond, it was an informal night at Shepperton with plenty of drinks and music courtesy of Oceana nightclub's finest DJ Mark Horne.

Guest appearances included the current Headmaster Philip Cottam, while former students also enjoyed a trip down memory lane with Halliford teaching stalwarts John and Mary Crook, John Lewis and of course David Grosvenor. We were also joined by some of our counterparts from St David's School.

It was great to see lots of new faces at the evening and everyone enjoyed reminiscing about their time at Halliford.

Old Hallifordians Football Extravaganza  2009 - Match Report by Matthew Todd.

The football extravaganza pitted four teams; Halliford 1st XI, Teachers, Old Hallifordians U25's and Old Hallifordians Over 25's in a round-robin tournament.

As the Old Hallifordians gathered, it was apparent from an early stage they would be up against it, especially as the Teacher's team looked a lot younger than they did.

Battle commenced with no team giving an inch. Spectators were enthralled by the sheer desire and spirit that each team displayed. Halliford 1st XI ran out winners, with resounding victories against both Old Hallifordians sides and a well fought draw against the Teachers. The school played with skill and showed great pace, and look to be a side that will be very successful in the future.

One thing that is always apparent about Old Hallifordian events is how well the current pupils get on with past pupils. This is not by chance. Every Hallifordian is cut from the same cloth, we love the school, have great respect for our teachers and we especially enjoy sharing stories about our times at Halliford.

OH Day and OHS Cricket Match Report.- 28th June 2009- by Alex Lenoel.

The day kicked off with tea and coffee followed by the AGM. A good turn out of new and old faces brought fresh ideas and fresh faces to the committee.

Alex Lenoel - Chairman, Nick Sicklen - Membership, Martin Watts - Treasurer have all stepped down from their respective roles and were all voted to remain as members of the committee. David Parsons  was proposed and seconded into the role of Chairman and will be joined by Nick Cooper as Treasurer.

The AGM closed with an open invitation for new Committee members, so if you are interested

an active role or just have a few ideas for events/ interest groups please contact the Alumni Secretary  via the details above.

The day closed with the annual chase for the much sought after Marshall Cup - OHS v. 1st XI.

This year saw a very strong OHS side, that perhaps carried a slight hangover of the run of success over the past few years. It was not to be! In true Hallifordian spirit the 1st XI were well prepared ,focusing on the job in hand and not underestimating the challenge ahead.

A 20:20 structure was chosen for added excitement of which there was plenty.. The OHS strode out manfully with Dan Midwinter(86-92) knocking out  70+ towards their total of 171. A magnificent spell from  John Hargan took him past his personal 50 and charging towards the OHS 171 total. In the last over of the game 171 was reached with two balls to spare.

The Marshall Cup returns to the School after a long spell away. Add this to the football win by the School and it is clear the OHS need to regroup with some fresh blood. Matt Todd will be looking for more sportsmen and more fixtures so be ready to volunteer for the cause!
