Halliford School

 Entry at 13+

Because the 13+ entry is limited in size (usually only some 10 places are available) and because there are always many more applicants than places, a pre-test is held early in the September of the year preceding entry. The pre-test consists of an interview with the Headmaster and Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Provisional places will then be offered, dependent upon a satisfactory performance in either Common Entrance or a separate Halliford examination in English, Mathematics, Science and a Modern Foreign Language. The Halliford examination is based on the Year 8 end of year examination and takes place at the same time as Common Entrance.

Entry at Other Points

Occasionally pupils enter Halliford at other points in the School. This only occurs when a vacancy has arisen as a result of a pupil leaving the School. The entry process will be the same, in principle, as that for entry at 11+ and 13+ i.e. it will be based on an interview, a school report and an entrance examination. The precise details of the entrance examination will depend on the year of entry and will be arranged on a case- by-case basis.
